EduBuddy Privacy Policy

EduBuddy ("the App", "we", "us") is an educational app for primary school students, used by a parent ("Parent Account") who manages one or more child learner profiles ("Child Profile"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Parent Account Information

• Email address and display name (via email/password sign-in or Google Sign-In)
• Subscription / billing status (e.g. trial, active, expired) — payment itself is processed entirely by Google Play Billing; we never receive or store your card details

1.2 Child Profile Information

Child Profiles are created and managed by the Parent Account. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without a parent first creating the profile.

• Child's nickname/display name, grade level, and selected study subjects (entered by the parent)
• Learning activity: quiz answers, scores, accuracy, streaks, XP, difficulty level, and topic-level performance — used solely to personalize the learning experience and to generate progress reports for the parent
• Photos taken with the device camera, only if the parent/child chooses to use the "scan a question" feature, used only to recognize the question text and generate a relevant answer/explanation

1.3 Automatically Collected Information

• Push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging), used to deliver daily quiz reminders and parent-to-child messages
• Basic app diagnostics and crash/error logs

2. How We Use Information

• To create and operate Parent and Child accounts
• To generate, personalize, and adapt quiz content to each child's grade and ability level
• To show the parent their child's learning progress and AI-generated study insights
• To send push notifications (study reminders, parent/child messages, subscription status)
• To process subscription purchases and free-trial / promo code eligibility
• To maintain the security and integrity of the App (e.g. preventing abuse via Firebase App Check)

We do not use any information collected from Child Profiles for behavioral advertising, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.

4. Children's Privacy

EduBuddy is designed to be used by children under the supervision of a parent or guardian, who creates the Child Profile and controls its settings, including subjects studied, difficulty level, and subscription. Parents can review, edit, or request deletion of their child's data at any time using the contact details below. We do not knowingly allow children to create an account independently or to communicate with anyone outside their own Parent Account.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain account and learning data for as long as the account is active so that progress and personalization continue to work correctly. Parents may request deletion of their Parent Account and all associated Child Profiles at any time by contacting us at the email below; we will delete the data within a reasonable time, except where retention is required by law.

6. Data Security

Data is transmitted using encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored using Google Cloud infrastructure with access-controlled security rules. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

7. Your Choices

• You can disable push notifications in your device settings at any time.
• You can decline camera access; the "scan a question" feature simply will not be available.
• You can cancel your subscription at any time via Google Play.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
